Know How to Rescue your PC from Ransomware

With the advent of ransomware, it becomes necessary to safeguard our PC from its attack. You never know when and how your system might be compromised and your important files will get encrypted. Some of the ransomware virus are such a menace that it cannot be decrypted no matter whatever procedure is followed by users. They are created for sole motive to hold the files and ransack the PC for ransom. Until and unless users do not pay the required ransom amount, decryption tool or private key is not being offered. However, in few cases the files do not get decrypted even after the payment and users have to lose their data. Sometimes scanning the compromised PC with malware scanner tool seem to be a productive idea as it can clean out the ransom virus but unfortunately the encrypted files cannot be accessed. In such cases, users have to opt for data recovery options in case if there is no backup of the data that has been encrypted.

Before discussing further, it is important to categorize Ransomware into 3 different types according to the nature it adopts for attacking the system. These are namely Scareware, file encrypting virus and lock-screen virus. Scareware as the name suggests, uses the tactics to scare the users forcing them to go for the paying for some fake program. It goes on flashing pop-ups for mounting pressure on to the users to create a sense of panic. Moreover, it also flashes some messages indicating that the system has been compromised as it has been used for some illegitimate activities or for visiting porn websites. This is the reason why users prefer to make payment for so called malware cleaning program. However it is advised not to make any such payment and instead clean ransomware from PC.

Lock-Screen Viruses

Lock-Screen Viruses targets system as a whole and locks the desktop. In any cases users are not allowed to run their system and even if they attempt they get message or ransom note as wallpaper or logo. It further holds users responsible for violating some cyber laws and now need to pay the fine or face punitive action for breaking laws. What more, it seeks payment of the ransom within a stipulated time frame and hence users do not have much option than to fulfill the demand of hackers in order to unlock their system and want to access the files once again.

File Encrypting Ransomware

The third category of Ransomware is most nasty as it is known to encrypt the files that are saved on the hard drive of the computer. There are also certain encryption virus that go on locking important program files thus preventing system to be boot up altogether.
